Providence, RI (USA)

Didn't have to leave early, so spent some time with my dad.  We ate breakfast and I checked out of the Marriott (0920).  Dad then took me to do some sightseeing near the beach. Meanwhile, Summey fixed the tire on our aircraft (back at Quonset State).  After saying goodbye to my father, I rejoined the crew and we left Providence at around noon. Flying with Frank again - we made it back to Atlanta with no problems.  Great trip!

Providence, RI (USA)

Had an unexpected chance to take a plane up to Rhode Island today. My friend, Frank, needed some flight time this month, so we took off late in the afternoon for Providence. Landed at Quonset State just before sunset (uncontrolled field). Found a cut in one of the tires - should be fixed by tomorrow, though. We had a rental car (from Hertz), but my dad met me at the airport.  I gave the car to the rest of my crew members to use and my father drove me around the old Navy Base (he used to work here). He said everything is like it was when he was here in the early 1970s. Our hotel in downtown Providence (Marriott) was very hard to get to and my dad got really frustrated with the traffic. Finally checked in after about an hour of driving (2015). Turns out, there was a festival in town and they blocked off a lot of the streets. Had a nice dinner at the hotel. Dad spent the night here tonight.
