Caltagirone, Sicilia (Italy)
[quick out & in mission to Souda Bay in the morning - we had about an hour on the ground and (Tim) took me over to get some souvlaki, a kind of gyro with lamb, onions and sour cream - very tasty! - found some good souvenirs - afterwards, we flew back to Sicily] Later, some of the guys took to visit Caltagirone, a little town in the middle of Sicily. Some of the notable things you can see here involve the delicate and brightly painted ceramic pottery they make. Even the 143 stairs leading up to the top of a hill in town are covered with ceramic tiles - you can tell the town is very proud of their ceramics. After another afternoon of fun, we returned to the base. Spent the night at NAS Sigonella Bachelor Housing.
