Montreal Trip - Day 1

We got a late start and by the time we made it to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, it was pouring with thunder and lightning. However, when we emerged on the Eastern Shore (Cape Charles), the sun was shining and our whole outlook changed. After passing the missile launch site at Wallops Island, our first stop was Chincoteague Island. Actually, the park is on Assateague Island - just beyond the more populated Chincoteague. The kids did the Junior Ranger program again and we actually found some wild ponies while we were on a nature walk. It's too bad that we weren't staying nearby, since the beach was very inviting. We had dinner in an old restaurant on the harbor in Chincoteague. As it got dark, we drove up the coast into Maryland and saw the bustling lights of Ocean City.  One more bonus for our first day of vacation: we got a free night at a Holiday Inn Express (in Bethany Beach, Delaware) with our Priority Club points.  We also did a little exploring in Rehoboth Beach before bed.
