Sembach (Germany)
Had a chance to fly up to Germany this morning for a tour of the weather office in Sembach. I told the other guys to bring some Italian wine to trade with the locals. While I was in Sembach, they got a tour of a local local liquor store - they picked up some good stuff (including Kolsch - see JUL 1986). Meanwhile, I was treated like a VIP and given the five star tour of operations at the weather office. It was really something and I'll have a lot of good things to write about when I get home (boss wants a good explanation of how things work). Flight home was good - we got approved to go to Souda tomorrow. No takers in the group, though - Charlie is mad that people won't take advantage of these situations... I guess everyone wants to hang around in Sigonella (????). Tonight we had a late cook-out and tried out the beer we had bought. I think I like the Kolsch now (I guess it takes 20 years to acquire a taste for it...).
