Lemoore, CA (USA)
Had a flight today - glad to start off the month with one (for once)! Went down to Key West to pick up our passengers - saw the huge BP oil slick on the way (strange to see something from the news up close). Very hot and humid... Had to stop through Fort Worth on our way to California - a long delay. Because of some ground delays, weather and a bad flight planned route, we had to hawk the fuel all the way to Lemoore. Made it with about 50 pounds of fuel to spare... We ended up landing about two hours late, but it was still around 1700L. This time, we had rental cars - and I was able to get everyone to the hotel (Navy Gateway and Suites Lemoore) quickly - it was surprising to learn that I was the only one who had ever been there for the night. We decided to find a restaurant in town - and we got a real feel for what it might be like to live there. I would say it was like Meridian (MS) without the trees - nothing to do and far from everything. We drove down Lemoore Avenue and found some places to eat. Ended up having margaritas and enchiladas at Senor Panchos. Back at my room, attempted to stay awake until 2200L (difficult) so I'd be on the time zone...
