[Bob told me earlier in the week that he had purchased a round of golf at University of Maryland for today and that his buddy had cancelled - he asked me if I would like to go - I considered the fact I hadn't played 18 since around 2003 and was a little concerned I would lose every ball I brought (and make everyone behind us wait all day) - he reassured me we could play scramble/bestball, so I agreed - this morning, I met up with Bob and he had all the golf equipment - since there were two of us, he asked me to drive (bigger car) - we had no trouble getting to the campus, and we drove through to the northwest corner (Stadium Drive) until we arrived at the Club - we picked up sandwiches before our tee time (1350) - we got an extra bonus (driving range balls) while we waited - we met up with the rest of our foursome a little before 1400 - this turned out to be related to a regular league (with some serious players) - it ended up being a little intimidating, I'll admit - but I played off Bob's ball most of the day, had some beer at regular intervals, found some of my golf swings again and enjoyed the tremendous weather - since we were using golf carts, it didn't get too tiring - whenever one of the group would par a hole, we shared a round of Fireball - I was in a pretty good mood by the end (I really have no idea what my score should have been, but didn't care) - bonus: I somehow ended up with two extra balls in my bag after 18! - our whole group ended up in the clubhouse for drinks and dinner (good) afterwards and some prizes (closest to the pin) were handed out to the good players - I'm really glad I played (thanks, Bob!) - it was dark by the time we left for Alexandria - however, this meant there was no traffic and it was a quick ride - bed by 2330]
