Spring Break Trip - Day 7

We got up at 0800 and had breakfast (toast, juice) at the hotel.  We then drove north and fillup up our gas tank at Pioneer, TN (1015).  Our first destination was the Big South Fork River NRA, where we did some hiking near the Columbia River gorge ridges in Tennessee and Kentucky (until 1330).  We ate lunch (Taco Bell) in Williamsburg (KY) at 1415 and then drove to Cumberland Gap National Historical Park and did some more hiking on the Wilderness Road (in Virginia and Kentucky), following the pioneers over the "saddle" of the Gap into the wild frontier.  We later explored the pinnacle overlook and, after traveling through the tunnel, the town below (in Tennessee).  We were treated to views of bison just after entering Virginia.  Mollie got two new stamps for her NPS Passport book and we made some good memories while exploring.  We also stopped briefly at the nearby Wilderness Road State Park.  As the day was ending, we drove east to Bristol and ate dinner (Bojangles) at 1900; Mollie told me she didn't want to go home yet, so we found a hotel (America's Best Value Inn) in Marion (2025).  We watched TV and read before bed (2345).
