Washington, DC (USA)

[at 1115, Brenna texted to say that she couldn’t find her Metro Card - we exchanged a lot of texts and it was all I could do to minimize the reminders that we’d agreed to meet at my office at noon - she then drove to Franconia-Springfield to get one of the express buses to the Pentagon (she called and texted throughout the process and almost got on the wrong buses a couple of times) - eventually (1155), Brenna got on the correct bus and then took more than 30 minutes to get on Metro - as a result, I was unable to meet up with her at Nationals Stadium until about 1255 - it took a while to get inside but then we got some food (mostly free because some was included in our ticket cost) - we watched the game (Nats vs ChiSox) with my work colleagues until the Seventh Inning and then got on the Metro to go to L’Enfant - we then walked to the Lincoln Memorial - at 1610, we were in position to watch Ella’s band presentation but it didn’t start for another 30 minutes - it had looked like rain but we ended up getting lucky - after Ella’s school was done, we were able to say hi to her - after that, we walked back to L’Enfant (took Metro from Smithsonian) - at L’Enfant, there was a huge crowd on the platform (professional soccer game that evening) so the Green Line was packed with people - we were able to get to Branch Avenue by about 1815 and then I drove her to Franconia-Springfield to get her car - we were both home before 1900]
