This morning I spent several hours assisting the Upper Valley Aquatic Center staff in White River Junction with one of their Swim Meets. Between 1230 and 1530, several of my fellow volunteers and I braved the temps (-2 to 8 F!) to direct visitors to open parking spots. I didn’t realize how it would feel to work three hours outside on a day with a Polar Vortex. I do now - yikes! Fortunately, the worst of the cold (-18 F) was only during the night. Still, my boots and socks were not really effective in the conditions and I was quite relieved when the event was over... Still, it was great to assist members of my community in putting on a world class event!
