Nomad Life - Day 82

After a pretty good sleep last night, I was up at 0500 (required alarm) and started teleworking.  I subsequently ate breakfast and lunch in my room (using groceries I'd bought a Ralph's).  For the first time since I'd arrived on Base, I actually heard some aircraft activity during the day.  Even more surprising, I encountered two MWR ladies who came through Building 26 on some sort of inspection.  Meanwhile, the weather outside looked very appealing (sunny, light breeze and temps in the 70s) but I kept working.  Still not feeling like I am fully in the Pacific Time Zone, I took a break for a nap at 1300 - I was back online at 1445 to finish my work day.  As I have each month since departing Hanover, I was able to join our monthly Knights of Columbus Council Meeting (by Zoom) from 1500 to 1515 and, afterwards, ate dinner in my room.  As the afternoon continued, I did some walking near the Navy Inn - it was in the 60s by that point.  I located a big walking track across the street from my building and it even had exercise stations.  By 1600, I decided to head down to the Point Mugu Family Beach again (in my car) and spent the next hour walking, birding (identified 29 species with the Merlin App) and waiting for the sunset.  The seals were in their same resting place, they still looked like boulders along the shore and the birds were scavenging among them.  Sadly, the marine layer returned just before the sunset was supposed to occur - as a result, I didn't get to watch it again.  Like the day before, "Retreat" played twice but, this time, the echo effect was very pronounced and I enjoyed hearing the music reverberating across the estuary.  Also similar to the previous evening, the birds all started flying west after that - maybe it's a darkness thing and not a wind thing...  I stayed at the beach until it was almost completely dark and then drove back to the Navy Inn.  Outside the row of barracks budlings (a few the the north of mine), I found lots of young people grilling outside.  It was clear that the Base was definitely getting busier and I concluded that the 96 Hour Liberty I'd surmised must be correct.  For the next 30 minutes (starting at 1715), I walked around nearby, including making a stop (for beer) at the NEX (1740).  On the way back to my room, temps dropped into the 50s.  Hoping to talk to Brenna on the phone, I made two attempts to reach her but struck out both times.  After that, I spent time correcting some blog entries and watching movies on YouTube.  Bed time was at 2230.  Another great day on the California Coast!
