Nomad Life - Day 7

Last night, I didn't sleep as well as I had the previous few nights - as a result, I was awake by 0530 and went inside my dad's house to start teleworking.  My dad woke up about 30 minutes later and we talked briefly while I was still in the dining room.  He made me some breakfast (blueberry pancakes, fruit) and shared some old documents related to my grandfather's life.  Taking advantage of this rare opportunity to capture genealogy items for posterity, I retrieved my scanner/printer from the car and made copies of about 20 documents.  There were some problems with the ink cartridge (messy) but I got those cleaned up before I also made print copies of several important documents of my own.  By this point (0730), Dad and Beth departed for their own breakfast across the Canal.  This allowed me to move all of my computer items upstairs (to my dad's office), where I worked straight through the day until 1600.  The only breaks I took during this time were to get a light lunch (chips, fruit), fill up on drinks and to retrieve items I needed from my car.  In other words, it was quite a busy day of work!  To top it off, I was asked if I could support a meeting at 1600 - I was able to defer this discussion, though, since I had plans to meet my dad at the Cape Cod Maritime Museum in Hyannis.  Departing Sandwich at 1615, I drove (via US-6 and some familiar surface streets) to the edge of Hyannis Harbor.  Arriving at 1645, I found my dad inside the museum in their lecture hall.  We chatted a bit before his lecture began - we also got some (free) Cape Cod Beer Company drinks.  Our cousin, David, arrived just before 1700 and I sat with him while my dad presented an installment of "History on Tap" for the next 75 minutes.  His stories were interesting and funny and the room was full of interested attendees who stayed for the whole presentation.  Even though I've heard a lot of my dad's local history stories, many of these were new and quite enjoyable.  At about 1815, the lecture was wrapping up and I departed (along with David) to have dinner.  I'd noticed that there was a (new to me) Margaritaville Resort close to the Hyannis Airport and met David there at about 1830.  We chose to eat at the Landshark and enjoyed a good meal (Landshark Burger and Landshark Lager) and conversation for the next 90 minutes.  At the end, the server commented that we looked like brothers - I suppose there must be some kind of family resemblance...  Heading towards Sandwich afterwards, I didn't have any trouble with traffic (fortunately) and arrived at my dad's just before 2100.  I was surprised to see him awake (Beth had already retired for the night) and even more surprised that we had a chance to chat for about an hour.  It was nice to sit in the living room with him and talk some more about local history and current events.  Before we knew it, the plentiful clocks in the house were all striking 2200.  By this point, I realized I wouldn't get my 10K steps for the day - that was OK, though, since I've done well throughout the last week.  Retiring to the little guest cottage, I did some reading and puzzles before heading off to sleep (2245).  Very full day!
