Cape Cod Weekend - Day 1

It had been a while since I visited my family on the South Shore so I planned a weekend getaway for my upcoming holiday leave (for Columbus Day).  This morning, I teleworked (from very early) and then used my lunch break to pack for my trip.  At 1600, I finished my work day and drove to Jesse's for a quick drink with my happy hour friends.  After that (1730), I left Hanover and drove south on I-89.  When I reached Warner, I stopped for a case of 603 Pumpkin Beer (for my brother-in-law, John) at Market Basket.  Resuming my drive south (1800), I expected (because of Google Maps) only to have two more hours in the car.  This was one of my first attempts to drive through Boston on a weeknight so I thought things would work out well. I continued on I-89 (listening to an audiobook) until I reached the outskirts of Concord.  From there, I used NH-3A to reach I-93 in Hooksett.  After that, it got dark and my drive was full of scary behavior by other motorists.  Adding to this stress, my map app kept warning me about "car accident ahead" and my arrival time at Hanover South started creeping up to a 2040.  As a result, I started thinking about going around the city on I-95 - fortunately, Google Maps also suggested it just before I passed the exit.  The drive via this route was a longer distance but I was able to eliminate most of the delay.  I reached MA-3 after only a few short delays (near some of the southbound exits and arrived at Katie's at 2010.  Both she and John were watching Thursday Night Football and I spent the next few hours doing the same.  We tried the Pumpkin Beer and it was good.  We were able to enjoy lots of visiting and it got very late.  I did some Duolingo before going to sleep (2345).  Whew!
