Enfield, NH (USA)
After work today (1530), I drove to Forwards Garage to volunteer with the VA Medical Center (WRJ) Adaptive Sports Team. I arrived at 1545 and found John raring to go (on the side-by-side bike) - he said that he hoped I was going with him because he wanted to "go farther than last time," Jen said it was OK and we departed just after 1600. As he'd hoped, John and I rode even farther today on the Northern Rail Trail than we'd ever gone before: down/up the big hill above Pillsbury Street and all the way to Hardy Road - around six miles from our starting point! We turned around, feeling elated since this was the last planned bike ride of the year, and made our way back to Forwards Garage. On the way, we marveled at the pretty foliage (especially on Mascoma Lake) and the "friendly" straw people on the NRT (within the Enfield town limits). We actually only encountered two other bikers from the VA Team because the rest had already turned around. John and I were finished by 1800 (after a total of 12 miles of biking!)] and I helped Jen with some of the other Veterans and cleanup. Afterwards, I headed home at 1815 (arrived by 1830). What a great season of biking with the VA!
