Cape Cod Weekend - Day 2

I was up very early this morning (0600) and immediately started teleworking. After I ate a light breakfast (snacks), Katie and John left for errands and an overnight trip to Connecticut.  As a result, I had their home to myself.  I continued teleworking until lunch (another light snack) and then resumed working until 1400.  After that, I packed up and drove south on MA-3, listening to music on the way.  The weather was very nice and I didn't have any traffic until just before I reached the Sagamore Bridge.  Just then, I got a call from work and this helped me pass the time until I finally made it over the Canal to Sandwich.  The end result of the call was that I had to stop to get online with my work computer.  Bonus, I was able to complete my teleworking day (until 1530) without interrupting the visit with my dad.  I finished the drive to my dad's house and then visited with him for over an hour on his back-yard porch.  At around 1700, he suggested that we order some pizza and, after it was ready for pick-up, we drove to get it.  Along the way, Dad asked if I'd like to go to a casino.  I don't usually gamble but agreed.  Meanwhile, we reached home and ate dinner (pizza, salad, cake)  with Beth.  Afterwards, I got changed and we left for the Fall River area.  The whole idea seemed crazy to me (because it was the Friday of Columbus Day weekend) but my dad was very enthusiastic.  Unfortunately, just after crossing the Sagamore Bridge and getting on US-6, we got stuck in a HUGE traffic jam.  As a result, it wasn't until almost 1900 that we got out of the mess.  It then took another 45 minutes (via US-6, MA-25 and I-195) to reach the Bally's Casino.  After we'd parked and gone inside, I realized we were in Tiverton, RI (!!) - first time in while...  For the next 70 minutes, my dad gambled on slot machines.  I stayed with him for most of that time but later explored the building.  Eventually, I found a place (there were taps on the wall) where I could sample lots of beers and wines.  I enjoyed six different tasters (Rise, Flagship Ale, Blueberry Ale, All Day IPA, Stone IPA and Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale), along with a larger glass of Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale.  At around 2100, my dad had lost all his money and we got back in the car for the drive home.  It took another hour (I-195, MA-25, US-6 and some back roads) but we finally crossed the Sagamore Bridge again.  We arrived at my dad's house at 2215 and I (tired) said good night.  Before going to sleep, I did a lot of reading and catching up on news.  I was finally done with my day at 2330.  What a whirlwind!
